What does it mean when someone says that the bid on snapnames or something is $10,000 for reporter.com?

I dont understand how you can place a bid on a name that is supposed to expire.

Also please share your experience with any snapped domains you were able to get, what the name was, what service you used

the bid is on www.NameWinner.com - never used it myself but gets wild sometimes.

SnapNames.com is first come first served ie no one else can buy a snap for the domain is you place a snap on it.

SnapNames got me DotComster.com when I forgot to renew it, it also got it back to my wife before that when she forgot to renew it - so I have a history with them :)
