I am interested in purchasing a domain name that is not listed on any of the domain-for-sale websites. So I accessed the WhoIs data to view the contact information.

And this is what I saw:

(Please note that because I still want to purchase the domain, if possible, I cannot divulge the domain name):

Could you please give me some input as to why Dotster would label this, or any domain, as “Fraud”?

The two possibilities that immediately came to my mind were:

1) A domain hijacking
2) A drop auction at Name Winner in which the winning bidder either did not pay or paid with funds that somehow bounced.

Please note the creation date of March 28, 2003.

I will be contacting Dotster with regard to the domain, but would appreciate any input.

I have seen it also,
They let them drop and some they also auction somevhere I have not found the place yet.l

I just received an e-mail response to my inquiry from Dotster.

This is what they sent me:

"This domain was registered for one of our customers who had not paid us
for it. Unfortunately we are not releasing unpaid domains at this
time. Sometime in the future, we may auction off these unpaid domains.
Unfortunately, we do not have a date for when this might happen."

So, I cannot purchase the domain at this juncture, and they will not give a time frame for when the domain will be available!
