Political.com would make a nice blog web site, a forum on politics or a tool in the hands of either major political party.

However, I don't see a marketable use of it, other than a "propaganda" tool.
Thus, my realistic estimate would be that the domain could be sold at a max end-user price of $15,000

With regard to the suggestion that the domain be put up in a highly visible auction... been there done that before. You may recall in the last days of 1999, the year2000.com domain was put up for sale on eBay

What I have in mind is something I don't think we've ever seen before - something more like a world-reknown Sotheby's, even perhaps with a bit of televised news coverage like you might sometimes see for a spectacular painting or other art treasure, and where you're probably not likely to find those fake $10,000,000 bids.

Yes, this raises some good points, and it begs the question "who is the end user that would really pay a lot for this domain?." A lot of political bloggers would like to have the site, but I don't imagine many of them have the $$$ to make a huge offer for the domain. I'm not sanguine that either major political party would be willing to pay a lot for it either.

My sense is that those that would really want the domain, and have the money to buy it for large $$$, would most likely be a wealthy lobbying organization that want to establish a presence for itself that wields a lot of political influence across a broad spectrum of issues. Or perhaps a third political party that wants to try to create a strong voice to vastly raise its visibility. Or perhaps even a wealthy religious ministry that wants to have a political voice.

I welcome other ideas... who else has the money and would be able appreciate a lot of value from owning the domain?

Browsed your site (was looking for your portfolio, but came up short). Nice to know we finally have a rocket scientist around for the truly perplexing problems in the domain industry! Welcome!

Probably $100 - the 2-year fee to NetSol back in 1995.
