For the past couple days, I have had difficulty logging in or the site
just freezing, 15 minutes before their auctions expires.

I received notice one minute before a name was to expire on their
auction page that I was out bid. So, someone was able to get into
the site.

Seems like the same problem I was having.

I think it's caused by massive users accessing and bidding at
the same time.

That would explain why half the time I can't access their site
or place a quick bid in the last minutes of the auction, it either
times out or takes forever to load.

You're not alone!

Maybe some people are automating programs to access the site to bid on multiple names....or to tie up the server to that you can't get any bids in and therefore their higher proxy wins and saves money......always gotta have a conspiracy theory. Never had those problems with namewinner.

I may be way off but from the way it sounds it most likely that means they are creating an auction API instead for larger clients to interface with their system instead of a programmer having to use POST commands inside of a script. I think of it like this.....just like the registrars connections were always a backdoor tool there are other things that go unseen as we speak e.g names strangely transferring from one registrar to another instantly in the same day, filtered drop lists, etc....LOL

But overall it probably is simply for people who are ordering massive amounts of name and need to keep them in some order (cough cough buydomains cough cough name administration). No idea if it would entail any auction functionality or not.
