Hi,

I thought it might be a good idea if we posted our optimisation tips for domains/market segments here!

Could be anything - a keyword that works, a pic that works..you name it!

I'll try and get the ball rolling..

Subject: Truck Domains
=====================
I have always found truck domains tricky.

One truck domain I had at a company had over a hundred visits but zero clicks.

However I found out that it did get a search for "bucket trucks"

I tried the domain name at parked.com using keyword "bucket trucks".

I have never heard of bucket trucks before :cool:

Using this keyword, brought up some other types of trucks such as "wood chipper".

To my pleasant surprise, the domain went to 70% ctr!

Possible Suggestion:
=================
Try keyword equals "bucket trucks" on relevant "truck" domains!

I always go though the keywords, some are not what I want. I go though and delete any keywords that dont partain to my domain name...

I love having so many keyword options there...

I would not have thought of "bucket trucks" for opt. a truck domain...
but it does make a difference to niche out...

Good Luck with your optimizations and projects...

Great idea startingthis thread....I always want to learn what others are doing to increase revenue.... I need help in the meta tag area, choosing the right keywords... Anyone know of a good keyword generator?

so tempted here lol ;)

Go for it Focus, go for it!

Yes this is the best one!

I also like to eliminate very similar phrases.

So today I was optimising a domain and it showed:

Conservatory
Conservatories

The way I see it nothing is added by the two phrases. Plus one other phrase is being denied a place in the list. So one has to go. So I get rid of one.

But maybe this is not wise? Dunno.

what do u guys put for main keyword?...at top of edit page....main keyword....do u usually just put the name of the domain...ex - localcardonation.org....do u use local car donation as your main keyword?...is that smart to do?...

Yes, imho that would be a good start!

Sometimes the singular produces different phrases to the plural, I think "loan" versus "loans" will produce different results.

So I would try "car donation" and if I was not happy with that, I would try "car donations".

ok...and then in the meta keywords area...u just add your other keywords?....do an overture search for main keyword...and then secondary keyword...etc...and add the various keywords?.....and that's it?

singular vs plural will produce somewhat different results at least in our system it will. As we don't consider them to be the same thing.

Your into SEO here which I dont have a clue about.

Personally I would make the meta description readable to a "humanoid" rather than a list of keywords :cool:

If the site does do well in the engines (as does happen) then if you have a nice short, snappy description then you might attract in a few extra visitors. That's just a hunch.

The title is important I personally would also make this readable as it appears usually on top of the meta description. For the keywords it's open season. To save time, I usually make up a readable title with one or two keywords and copy them to the description and keywords, this is primarily to save time. Probably a disaster :blush:

Subject: Keywords - Any Domain!
==========================
Actually this one is getting some good results for me.

Okay bear with me while I try to write this.

You have a domain. You chose a keyword for the domain.

That brings up the phrases for the domain that appear.

But some times the phrases you really want are just not appearing. Try as you might with different keywords you just cant get the right phrases to come up!

Possible Suggestion
==================
You can simply eMail parked.com and ask them to add in the keyword/phrase! It usually appears at the top of the list, only in a few rare cases will it not be added!

For me, changing the Title from keyword1keyword2.com to keyword1 or keyword2 or any other related does not make a viewable change.

What I do is change the template colors. Specially the red, blue und green related box in the 2click-lander I change to some color what is in the pic, and at the result page I change the background-color to white for the related links.

And so, if the main key is in the domainname, too, using a related template and sort out any not really really similar keyword you are in a good position.
