Get a friend / relative that lives in a authorized country zone to open an account for you? otherwise there is no way around it.

If you have an account in an authorized country would also do,

Good luck on Saturday btw :) (Football match)

I had (or still have) I don't know a checking account from Wamu in california and opened a paypal but aholes asks "are you travelling to Turkey" evertime I log in. they also want me to fax bunch of documents. Aholes accept Papua new guniea but not Turkiye. Aholes even don't know we are the second largest population and the economy in Europe.

Geez I am angry...

Are there any ways around?

PS : For match we are gonna rock and bury them to istanbul and they never forget the impact of our kicks to their arses for years.

And I will change my nick after that since we do not need SAF anymore...

Here's a radical idea: Why not contact PayPal and ask them what you can do?

Apparently there is a lot of credit card fraud that originates in or near Turkey. When I wanted to sell a domain (regged at Enom) recently to a guy in Turkey, Enom would not let him open an account. So, at Enom's suggestion, I opened a subaccount for him.

A little angry?

Paypal is afraid (most likely) of lossing money by opening turkey up because as Hi0 stated, its a large credit fraud area.

Frankly, i dont blame them. ALthought I can understand how frusterating it is.

I also know many/some merchants dont accept orders from turkey, indoneisa and other CC fruad prone areas.

About the cali bank account, you must expect security percautions, as they dont want people laundering $ :)

That is bullshit created by PayPal. We use more credit cards than any European country or US by per capita, so it is normal to have a few fraud.

I waited 1 week to make a wire when I was in California and they charged me $50. Here in Turkiye I have many accounts which are wired online. I do all my transactions online by myself in seconds and do wire transfer in 2 days by myself.

They have just bias. Anyway fcuk PayPal I can be well without it...

Alex, how about getting a postal address in another country close to you that Paypal accepts?

Have you ever tried contacting PayPal? It's like trying to pick up a dime with your balls....not gonna happen. Once they have your info on record and they freeze your account, there is no chance that you can open another with your info again without it being frozen as well. I know it is a hassle as the majority of the internet uses Paypal, but hopefully someone will come up with a valid alternative to them soon. Fellow domainers should not be limited to just having a PayPal account...you should provide alternatives such as Ecount.com, Moneybookers.com, and Yahoo Paydirect.

Unfortuanatly, for small ammounts (and even large ammounts) its hard to go after CC fraud.

There is little the merchant can do when someone buys from them using a fraudulent CC.

There is even less a mercahnt can do when someone uses a fraudulent CC through paypal.

Doesn't work. They check your IP to see where you come from when you log on.

But not, it seems, at the time you sign up, which I'm sure has caused a lot of unnecessary heartache.

Not only do they check your IP but they they scan accounts and transactions so that they pick up on familiar terms. I learned this the hard way after buying a domain from a business that got banned from PayPal for fraudulent transactions. I resold the domain to another party and both our accounts got locked for dealing with the same domain. This practice is highly unfair and I guess their mottos hould be "guilt by association." After trying to contact them for weeks on end. They said the accounts would remain locked for their review department. A year and a half later, the account is still locked and the funds have finally been dispersed. But causing a huge headache not allowing us to use Paypal transactions.......

Companies like DN Forum that mandate that Paypal has to be used for all transactions in the auction are part of the problem.

Paypal has a list of "blacklisted" countries and apparantly Turkey is one of them. If you access you Paypal account from a blacklisted country expect problems.

There are alternatives moneybookers and egold come to mind but according to the DN Forum auction rules they cannot be used here. The result of DNForum's policies is that members from Paypal banned countries effectively cannot use the auction. This impacts all members since it can impact on the price that a domain will fetch at auction if certain buyers are excluded.

Just my two cents worth. But DN Forum is not blameless here.

DNForum nor anyone who uses PayPal is to blame for anything. You can't condemn a person, group or company for using PayPal as they are the largest payment processor on the web. I hate PayPal as much as anyone, the only thing that you can suggest is that everyone try using some different payment options rather than Paypal exclusively. I do wish that the majority of the users on the board would begin to phase PayPal out of their payment preferences, but unfortunately until something happens to their accounts (like them getting frozen), they will be content where they are. I do agree 100% that by limiting yourself to PayPal, you are missing out on making substantially more for your intellectual properties. I would have bought many more domains on this board if it weren't for the exclusivity of the PayPal payments. I recommend incorporating several payments options to anyone running an online business. Options are Yahoo PayDirect, Ecount.com, E-Gold, Moneybookers, Escrow, 2Checkout. I use Yahoo PayDirect for the majority of my sales as it functions very much like PayPal with higher credibility due to the HSBC backing. Just my take.

I am not condeming anyone for using Paypal or any other payment provider.

What I do condem is the requirement on an auction site, DNForum, that the sale be completed exclusively using Paypal for amounts under $500

From the DNForum auction rules

In order to buy or sell domain names in the auction you must be able to complete any sale with Paypal.

Even eBay who owns Paypal does not have such a restrictive requirement. Apart from effectively banning a buyer from a "Paypal banned country" from the auction at DNForum for a sale under $500 it also discourages sellers from providing a wide choice in payment methods.
