Someone has send me that he is interesting in rent one of my Domains for his website, what is the procedures for that, I mean how he will use and control it without any risk to loose my domain?

here are basics:

draw an agreement, that stipulates terms of payment, based on amount agreed to.
ie: $100 per month/for 36 months, etc.

include in the agreement that you will "retain ownership" and agree to change DNS (nameservers) to NS of their choice, for the "rental" period.
you also need to include clause for late fee's, and "usage" of the domain, as you don't want negative history on it... if it's not a "lease to own" agreement.

if it's lease to own, then some more detail should be included in agreement.

Definitely go into usage in detail even if lease to own, as a lease can be broken (then you could be stuck with a sandboxed domain or one with a bad history that's been archived).

Also, I would add privacy to the domain so that your name isn't personally connected with the domain publicly.

i have leased several domains and never used privacy

when the 'details of usage' are explicit, there is no need.


as i still own the domain and other than NS changes, the 'record' remains the same until transaction is completed.

If the usage of the domains was agreed upon and they were to sell flowers, if for whatever reason I kept getting calls from random people checking on orders, I would be annoyed. It isn't a procedure that should be followed, rather a tip. This is due to the fact that there may be an internet savvy customer of the leasee who couldn't wait for a reply to a ticket/email and decided to call to check up on his or her order instead.

From personal experience, for the most part, we can all say that we've contacted a person using this route. Who's to say it can't be true?

I'm sure that anyone who leased a domain would be annoyed in the given scenario. In your instance, I'm sure it never happened, otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned it not being necessary. However, privacy with a couple registrars is free with a flick of the switch. With others, peace of mind costs $10 a year and could be factored into the price to cover it over the year (it's such a nominal fee, does it even matter to be factored?).

never been called or contacted by any customer, as all leased domains had/have "contact us" info for that business, on the actual websites.

though in contrast, I have received calls from customers of "parked pages" that I own.

as a practice, I don't use privacy, so that's why I wouldn't recommend it.
