Hello

A quick question I want to buy a preowned domain name. The idea is that when a WHOIS is done the age of the domain will be the time it was first registered not when it was transfered over? Is this thinking correct?

Also where could I buy a cheap below $100 domain that is over two years old?

If you never guesssed im a novice to domains.

Thanks for reading

to state differently, the creation date indicates a domains age.

however, it could have been registered earlier in time and later expired, then re-registered, thus having a new creation date.

it will maintain the creation date when transferred

check www.web.archive.org to cross-reference lifespans

one note: though some will not agree with this....the age of a domain is not a real asset to the name, unless you're selling to someone like yourself who's looking for a domain with age.

as i have 13 year old names that some won't offer any more for, than a domain that's was registered 3 months ago.

imo...

Good Luck!

Google does use a web site's domain age as a factor in search engine placement, to differentiate from domains that are registered for a short period of time to be used for spam.
