Domain sale over, thanks for looking!
Thought up this project last year and have too many projects to finish this. I corraled the following list of domains from the list of top 50 US cities by population and adding "Rate" in front to create a network of "local rating" or "Best of" sites for 21 out of the 50 available. The other 29 domains in this niche are already taken. RateReno.com allowed for a nice casino vacation destination so grabbed that one too.
We all probably have a local "Best of Your City" voting contests held by a local newspaper or alternative press newspaper in our areas and I thought taking that idea online and focusing on larger populations and combining it with local search to monetize could be valuable when completed.
Have locals and visitors rate the best and worst of their:
Theaters
Schools
local attractions
Pizza Joints
Bars and Nightclubs
Mexican Food
Burger joints
Hair salons
Restaurants
Grocery stores
Local Events
More, More, More...
Lots of locally produced user content is possible. Would be useful for folks coming into that town for a visit. Lots of CPA and affiliate deals available.
I found the open source program Pligg and thought with their "Five Star Rating plugin" that would pretty much accomplish what I was thinking of or go with some widgets and javascript from www.Rateitall.com .
