Hello,

I am aware they hold names for a long time (year+) but I am unsure how they hold them.

Are they held in

A: Active

B: REGISTRAR-HOLD

In conclusion I am wondering how you can tell if/when the name is entering the drop cycle (for real). I dont want to wait a year plus :)
Thx :)

Not sure about the drop cycle, but we had a client who wanted a couple that were in the unpaid names dept at RCOM. They called and called and called and finally got 1 of them. The other was eventually renewed and they had to pay through the nose to get it from the previous owner. This was over a span of 6 months.

Point being, if you want the domain, call RCOM and offer them money (i.e. renew with them, don't mention transferring away, etc).

I didn't think they sold them?

Are you sure?

What time period is this?

Also, anyone with info on the first Q? :)

Thanks.

I have had a snap on a name being held hostage at Register for 9 months.

And, no signs of them letting it drop.

You have to keep checking and checking and checking. Anything can happen. They have an established history of deleting names in their "Unpaid Names" dept, if you call them up and ask them to. If you're really nice, they'll send you a letter when they've deleted it. Either way, they'll tell you whether the name is "on its way" or not.
