I was trying to find out who owns one domain registered with register.com, but the whois at Register.com says:

'Note: The whois server responsible for domaindevelopment.net is not responding. We are unable to display registration information at this time. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Please click the back button and select a domain to continue through the registration process.'

This has been like that for some time now, so I don't think it's gonna change any time soon.

I can only make an anonymous offer through the Afternic Virtual Broker.

Strange one this, i tried it on uk2.net and according to them, its available. But trying it on a few others it is taken and like you say no whois information.

it's sometimes like that when a domain has just been registered, but in my case, I think they're just trying to make people make offers through the virtual broker they which they own

Guess who owns the .com? You guessed it, BuyDomains.

It seems like everytime I check a good name BuyDomains pops-up. How in the world do they do it so much better than others?
