Hey everyone,

I was looking at a not-so-good expiring domain name — which I thought I was one the only one after — when at my big suprise someone got faster than me and grabbed it. But here's a thing the new registrant in question turns out to be the registrar where the domain was previously registered, they used a proxy registrar to register it (same whois info).

Is this legitimate? If not, can it be reported to ICANN? If yes, what would they do about it?

Edit: typo in the title, sorry about that.

Don't EVER depend on yourself being the only one who will want a name! An example in my life: 'GreeneVA.com'. I live in Greene County Virginia and that name was previously used some here. A third party drop agent caught it via one of the drop services for a guy who owns a fishing guide boat in Alaska, Green Eva. 'GreeneVA.com' is now 'GreenEva.com' in Alaska!

If you want the name a little, you need to at least use Go Daddy (and I did). If you really want it, then its Pool, Snap Names, and Name Jet (no, I didn't but he did). If you barely care then check after the drop. You probably won't get it though unless it was truly a stinky, repugnant, disgusting, miserable, cold, and awful name that no one has ever, ever searched for! Generally if I care this little then I don't actually care.
