PSA from the Domain King himself, Rick Schwartz - and this one hits like a roach motel full of truth bombs.

Just when you thought your domains were premium, Rick rolls in and calls them “pigeon with lipstick on a dead pig”

In classic Rick fashion, he torches this so much overused word so many DNF users love to use: PREMIUM.
Apparently, slapping it on your listing doesn’t make it special… just suspicious

Instead?
Use words that actually mean something:

• High profile
• Memorable
• Category-defining
• Attention-grabbing
• POWERFUL

Pro Tip from Rick:

“Pretty girls don’t have to say they’re pretty.”
Same goes for domains. Let the value speak, not your adjectives.

So next time you’re tempted to throw “premium” into your pitch — maybe... don’t.
Unless your goal is to get roasted by the King

Great article, but Rick is slowly changing his tune on a number of things.

He is a straight shooter and says what he needs using colorful language but if you actually see his catalog you will notice domains in extensions that may surprise you. He owns domains in TLD's one might not expect.

That said… I actually own PremiumLeak.com, and funny enough, traffic’s been steadily climbing since launch. Guess even if “premium” got roasted, the name still pulls eyes when paired with the right niche


Been getting solid inbound interest and a few offers lately — sometimes controversy sparks curiosity more than it kills it.


Rick might torch the word, but I’ll take a little “premium heat” any day
