I'd like to set a BIN for my domain auction on Flippa but I'm not sure how to price it.

How do you normally set your BIN?

  • Do you use a multiple of the highest bid?
  • Do you use 'appraisals'?
  • Do you just make it up?

Any information would be really helpful.

Thanks,
Shane

Normally (for any auction with BIN option), I put minimum price (I'm willing to accept) + 50% or more as the BIN.
The rule of thumb though might be to price 3x the amount.

If I were you I'd do some research and find out what similar domains have sold for lately. If you are happy to settle for the median price of what similar names have sold for lately, then you set that as a BIN. If you expect a whole lot more, then don't put it up for auction at a reseller venue (hang on to it and wait for an end-user, if you think that is likely to happen). My 2 cents..

The answer is simple: you pull the numbers out of your ass, then double it. :D

I've never sold a domain on Flippa, but its new Classifieds section is interesting and very cheap
