Yeah its bullshit! I had no idea they could so easily do this! I just bought a .global for $20 now its $85 a year? Its a hobby, I don't want to pay frikn $85/year its why I chose one that was only $20.. frikn greedy biches!
I learned Donuts Inc. rebranded to Identity Digital in 2022, backed by Equity Capitol, own allot of TLD's. They are not governed by ICANN contracts which sets price caps and predictable increases. They can set whatever prices they want, when they want without warning!
I am aware domain prices can increase because I own a few. But I never had one jump over 300%! Had I been aware of this I would have never bought it! I haven't started using it yet so I can change, but the .global really fit the brand and the name of the domain really well so I hate having to change it!
I will NOT buy a TLD owned by these greedy pricks ever again! To avoid being screwed in the future simply don't buy any TLD's they own. Here is the list of the ones I found they do own and can at will increase pricing on without waring:
