Irrespective:

85,000 searches at OV last month, 900,000 pages at Google, how many names of half this length get these sort of results- people are searching for it- is that not the criteria?

Well not when the name is that long ! You'd be hard pressed to get in any type ins unless the site was developed as a resource. If you put up some good, useful content in there, the name can realize its' full potential.

I know it is a long name but when it gets these results :

Does that mean people are searching with those words or am I missing something?

If anyting, it might get some traffic as a .com, even there, its too long.
STD (as its known) probably would get traffic as a .info
people are searching for it, and then they click on whatever search results they find.
also at that length, people are bound to make typos, which doesnt help.

$50 low commercial interest, take a lot of work for the traffic to find its way there.
