Why would you think this has any value?

Because the dotorg version is an established site.

Well when you talk about value you refer to end user value. It may have some value to the .org owner (even that is debatable) but in terms of end user value it's not worth anything. The only hyphen domain names which are valuable are premium generic words.

I hear ya and thanks for your insight!

I guess my thinking was, "I love skiing and remember this great new website I heard about. Let me just type in that dot com my friend was telling me about".

I must admit...my emphasis is development not domain trading but I was under the impression that type-ins were key.

You have to evaluate the popularity of the dot org you are trying to capitalize on. It has an Alexa rank of of about 4.5 million, so maybe it get 3-5 thousand unique per month tops. You are not gonna get much mistaken traffic from a site like that. I'd be surprised if you get more than 20-30 per month, but I could be wrong.

If you can monetize it and make some money, than you will have made the right choice. I think the response you got was just lukewarm, cause it's just not a huge deal based on the name/numbers.

You want to target sites at least 1 million on Alexa or better for this kind of thing to have better odds and return on investment.
