I submitted 16 names.

A couple of great 1 dictionary words and when I say GREAT , i mean it.
The rest were pretty decent LLLL.com, some very old and good quality, others pronounceable...

Everything was extremely low priced compared to the rest IS ON THE CATALOG.....and I am VERY CONFIDENT that I HAVE the necessary KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE to judge this correctly by now....

Yet NONE of my domains made the catalog....and YET I have to see some CRAP like this for example:

Qtek.co.uk $5,001 - $10,000

Can anyone tell me WHY please?

more CRAP:

8men.com
9men.com

and the explanation from SNAP rep is:

The domain names selected for our auctions are selected based on a number of different factors:

Google and Alexa ranking
Search frequency and price of the related terms/keywords
Type in traffic (If supplied)
Wayback records, etc…

All of this data is considered along with the reserve prices that were set by you

Let`s analyse it:

QTEK.co.uk

it`s aged 2008 , has 4 backlinks and its NOT pronounceable so unless I`m blind, I SEE NO VALUE, YET SNAPNAMES EXPERT DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For sale at $5,000 - $10,000

Result: approved

Now let`s see one of my domains:

MMCP.com

it`s aged 1998 , has 10 backlinks and being .com has already much more value and appeal to many domainers. Has traffic and little revenue.

Submitted with a $500 price tag....

Result: Not approved

I AM FURIOUS!

if your domain "has already much more value and appeal to many domainers", then why hasn't it sold already?

or

if your domain "has already much more value and appeal to many domainers", then why price at $500?

don't be mad at snap

imo...

I don't think that answers the question that was posed Don. Snap do seem to have a weird valuation system - something that's been brought up here many times. I find it so frustrating that I don't bother trying to deal with them.

My 2c.

biggie...don`t start....

ok, let`s look at other examples since maybe MMCP does not pass your quality inspection test. And I can accept that.

I sent them:

n.pe (Peru...not a tiny unknown desert island!!)

their system won`t even accept it because some tech error!!!!! (yet they asked it: 1 char) I sent them an email asking why, after 10 days I have yet to hear an answer.

(I won`t here be pretending it`s a million dollar domain but I have noticed lately many single letters going for well above $1,000 even the worst extensions and Peru is not the worst one as they have got a population of some million people and they do use their ccTld.)

but of course there is a 2 letters

zz.vc

oh...and did I tell you about my super nice LLL.net ???? Sent for just $500.....not included......what about a great 1996 LLL.org with 50 uniques daily??? ( 99 % type in traffic and mind you, I just got someone inquiring about it by email so maybe I won`t need them for this one) Not included...

I waited their auction to start selling those 2 and never even mentioned them on any board....and this is what I got.

But have a look at their great catalog:

http://showcase.snapnames.com/getCatalog.php?id=39

what do you say now?

Come on, I never pretended to 6 figures domains, because I know how to price them, but when I have to see some catalog I can`t swallow this.

They need to explain this to me. And I wrote to them and I won`t stop this time because this time I`m really mad.

I had in previous years similar unsuccessful applications but I always accepted and believed I had to submit better names so I never insisted on anything even if I had to shake my head to understand some names...and some of their sales.

But this time, I had enough.

why are we even discussing the value or worthyness of your domains, here in the "General Discussion" section?

but since you posted them...

i wouldn't bid $10 on either of those 1 or 2 char cctlds

and like i said, don't be mad at snap or at me

what good will it do?

imo...

I`m not mad at you but at them!

Ok, so sorry if I posted this rant over here, let the mod either delete it or just bash me because I am such unable to understand Snapnames` selection criteria.

The January Showcase Auction will feature one-word ccTLD domains with the following extensions: .de, .ca, and .co.uk.

Maybe they just didn't have room for your names.

I put in four one-word .ca's with extremely low starts to get some action going. None were accepted - one was even a website with great traffic and rev! Then I see the .ca's they did accept and I had to sit and shake my head. Zero traffic, no advertisers, no-type-ins etc... so much trash with 10k starts! I just don't get it.

yes I read that....so why in the catalog there are names such:

Zz.vc (is.vc a TOP TLD???)
Yyag.de (is YYAG a word in any language??)
Zat.mobi (is .mobi another TOP TLD????)
Day.com.mx (ohh.....Mexico...yes sure Mexico is good...hang on....I submitted "Pasta.in", now tell me day.com.mx is better and more commercial than Pasta.in ? On top of that... In Mexico "day" is not a word....in India , "Pasta" it is)

Hang on EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found the explanation!!!

they did not want competition because of this such ULTRAPREMIUM domain:

DiscountDrugstores.asia $201 - $500

Now, said that I can say goodbye to those people at Snapnames.

You've posted this over at another forum as well so why not, I'll also reply to this thread.

It's their business. If they want to accept your domains, they will. If they don't want them, they won't accept them. Maybe your domain is worth it, maybe it isn't but that doesn't change the fact that Moniker/SnapNames are in charge and if they choose other domains, there's nothing wrong with that.

The only thing from this thread that doesn't make sense is this:

Now, said that I can say goodbye to those people at Snapnames.

Ok, so if someone will be selling gold.com or a domain like that via SnapNames with a starting bid of $300 or something, you won't bid?

Or if Moniker will start offering $1 dot coms as of tomorrow, will you stay away?

Why, because of their "ways"? Doesn't that sound just a bit absurd? It's your life/your business so whatever, oh and feel free to call me a Moniker/SnapNames cheerleader because of my signature kthx ;)
