I payd $69 on Snapnames.com to get an old domain that was
expired in August 2001.

Registrar NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC.
Record expires on 09-Aug-2001.
Record created on 08-Aug-1996.

But this domain is still on hold. What is wrong?

You chances of getting this domain are pretty good. Unless it is a 2 or 3 letter .com or a high profile one-word .com. Domains expiring outside the dates of the ususal bigger drops, have a better chance of getting snapped by Snap Names. I have had 100% success for all my domains with them that expired on dates and times where no bigger drops were scheduled. Usually domains that expired long time ago, tend to drop on times like that.
