SIMPLE TIPS, just because a name might be a decent .com, DO NOT ASSUME IT WILL BE A GOOD .us, .info, or .biz.

Think of it this way, will this name be worth over $5k as a .com? Can I realistically sell it for that much as a .com? If so, buy the other extension, if not, dont waste your time.

That's true only if the reason you're registering the domain is to hope to sell it for big bucks... if you have a site you want to develop (whether for money or for ego or for fun) that fits nicely into some name, then you shouldn't have to care whether it's one that anyone else would pay loads of moolah for... if it's good for you, that's all that matters.

If you are talking about selling the name TODAY, that is probably true. If you are talking about selling it 5 years from now it could be completely false...and if you wait 5 years to find out the name will no longer be available to you.
