Someone has posted my WHOIS info on their website!?

Hi.
As far as i'm aware isn't the WHOIS database info supposed to be private?
I've just come across ALL my personal info that holds one of my domains on Google, because someone (i know the site) has posted my FULL WHOIS details for my domain name on THEIR site,which has now been cached by google and god knows who else.Is this allowed?? i don't mind people searching my WHOIS through the database supplied by whois.publicinterestregistry.net,but publishing it on a website seems strange.
Any advice please? :?:

its best to change your last name to an initial and change 1 number on your address. I had the same done to me before. Hes somewhere in japan. i bought a name before he did and i won. he got jealous, found out where i worked, and posted my whois information on a blog. He associated me as being someone who disrespects japan. I contacted the police and they couldnt do that.

-they couldnt contact the company to take off my information cause of "the privacy act"
- but my private information was displayed.

This site is actually in the UK.I've sent a polite email (as someone suggested in PM from here, cheers) asking him to remove it from his site.No response, and after reading some of you guys replies,who have a lot more experience than me, i probably wont get one, if WHOIS info is indeed 'free game' for people to post anywhere they want? :?: .


Anyways, if (like others say) the WHOIS is completely public im sure he won't mind me returning the favour with his WHOIS on my sites :shy:

I could not make my WHOIS for a .org private, if i remember correctly.

Right. I also do the same. I never put my right phone number while regging and not my right address also(changing to a fictitious house no. on the same road).
Someone might say it is wrong, but that is one of the ways spammers get our address and send unwanted snail mails.

Incorrect whois information is a violation of the registration agreement, you can loose your domains that way.

Just remember that the who is information is PUBLIC, you should always take reasonable steps to either protect or ensure that it is in no way associated with your personal address.

Consider registering yourself a PO Box (£160 a year), and ensure your telephone number goes to a voicemail service or at the very least get yourself a non-geographic number like an 0870 (free)

UK domain names have the option of opting out of the WHOIS database.

Do not put FAKE information in the whois
