Mine is a stupid name js0.com (0 = Zero) at DotRegistrar. I guess he spams people who put the word sale or something in whois.

Me too, I got an email for prosportsbet.com, regged with godaddy.com, I thought he was interested.

Does that tell us that registerfly is selling domain lists???
Hope not, or else we'll get a lot of spam
on what registry are the domains he inquired to members of this forum?

Theory doesn't hold up.

One Registerfly, one namescout.com.

Seems more like just a whois-spidering of many registrars. Any chance all were listed on afternic recently? Both of mine were.

YUP! Add me, too. Received exact same e-mail dated 12/24 ... just read it today for the first time. Mine was a totally different registrar than mentioned so far, so it would appear it's more a case of random advertising.
If I hadn't seen this post, I wouldn't have given his e-mail or the occasion of visiting his site another thought. Maybe now I will ... just kidding! Have fun.

Mine was for a domain registered at eNom that has never been listed at Afternic.

I got the same spam, for a domain that is with OpenSRS and has no mention of sale in the whois info. Maybe he is just trawling the whois for dictionary and short domain names and spamming the owners. It does seem like he is just trying to promote his site.

Yea but it may be target "spam" because it seems he picks good domains - he tried for my 9t.net

Add me too. However, the interesting thing is he inquired a domain which I owned 2 months ago. He should be getting an email list of grabbed names 1 to 2 months ago. He probably bought a list email addresses of recently registered names from somewhere.

hey, i also got one..just noticed.

is this guy serious...?? anyone got a reply for his enquiries...

unfortunately, after replying to his mail..i checked up dnforum only to hear he is a spammer !

My foot

Yes, and he works WTF hard to "spam". Everyone seems to be customised and researched from the posts here.

I won't classify him as a spammer, just someone who takes the trouble to data-mine and sweat it out. Real spammers are the scum of the earth. They don't do their homework and send millions of their trash to kids and innocent virgin women with the click of a button.

mole : your comment is reasonable, i suppose ! But i wonder, what exactly is he trying to mine...the email Id's or trying to do some testing if the IDs listed are right or wrong ??
If his intention is not to spam and if none of you have heard back from him.... I seriously feel FISHY about this

I'd be interested to hear, if anyone have heardback from him....!

idea, most everyone here know that he is only trying to bring attention to his/her site. It's like advertising really, but with the inefficiencies of having to bear the sweat on the brow, and the man labor hours thrown to the wind. I wouldn't call this spamming in its actual sense of the word, since spammers just want to take the easy ticket with illegal decept and almost no work.

He asked me about needfire.com, which is not my best name by any stretch of the imagination. It's at registerfly, but was never listed at Afternic.

I'm not sure if it's just an ad for his site, if he's trying to build a list of valid email addresses of name owners to sell to spammers, or if he's going to take all the numbers he gets back and try to do something with them.

+ generating some traffic.

Me too! What a disappointment!

I like to add that I'm very grateful that dnforum exists. The people on these boards are wonderful in sharing and helping each other. So glad I found this website!

My domain was listed at Sedo, not Afternic.

me too. got one for

plaid.net

Well, at least I know I can ignore the email I got on the 25th, from him about a casino domain, I think of, as one of my worst domains.:D
