Speech To Text Messaging works both ways:

For sending, of course (e.g. From TMCnet.com):

SpinVox Teams Up with Social Networking Sites to Enable Speech-to-Text Blogging
By Patrick Barnard

Now SpinVox (News - Alert) has brought speech-to-text to a new level with its new Voice-to-Screen speech-to-text messaging client. With this handy service, you can dictate a message to be sent to friends or colleagues via Web chat or SMS or email and send it off with just a click. The real news is the company has announced deals with social networking sites Facebook (News - Alert), Twitter and Jaiku which enable users to post messages on their pages simply by talking into their mobile devices. This will be of particular interest to bloggers who wish to blog while “on the road” without having to slow down their routine and be confined to their tiny keyboards when typing out entries. The company claims presidential hopeful John Edwards has been using Twitter to communicate with his staff whilst on the campaign trail using its voice to screen technology.

And receiving (e.g. from IP.com):

Sending Voice Mail Messages in a Telephone via Email (Speech to Text Messaging)
By SriGowri Vatticuti

Current technology enables people to check their telephone answering machine messages through their phone carriers, but it still requires them to dial through a telephone to their home number to check the messages. By implementing my design ideology they need not dial to the telephone; instead, the phone can be programmed in such a way that the messages left on the answering machine can be sent to their email account in a text format. Thus they can check their messages from anywhere in the world either through their hand held devices, through their mobile phone browser or through any Internet enabled gadget. They need not miss their messages when they are away from home or when they are out of the country.
