Just wondering what do you find more effective starting the auctions (either here or on ebay, sedo etc.) for your domains with low price, like $1, or start it with a high reserve?

I actually never started an auction but it seems to me that you can get screwed with a low reserve (low sale price), or am I wrong? :-) Although that depends on the quality of the name off course.

Maybe you should pick something in between.

Well starting at something like $1 has the advantage of getting more people interested (at a possible bargain) and involved in the auction early on, hence more publicity, participation, and potentially higher sales price.

On the other hand, starting an xxxx or xx xxx name at $1 is as ridiculous as it sounds (especially on the forums), gives the impression that the seller has no idea of the value of the domain, and can encourage bids in a range far below what would otherwise be expected, as well as wasting everyones time with bids that will never be accepted.

Take your pick :)
