why do some forums show as /f6

and threads as /t43449


is it a hack ?


i've noticed the old style links are still there when you post or get an email.

yea, i like the new way better though :)

Not like it's a big deal.
 
This is called URL rewriting. Underneath what you see (t43449 & f6) there still is the long .php URL with loads of parameters.

In Apache server you can do this too with the mod_rewrite module. Really cool!

In Windows there are a few (commercial) modules like IISRewrite and a few others.

Advantages:
1. Makes it easy on the eyes
2. Makes it easy on the search engine spiders (if done right!) :-D:-D:-D
