Thanksgiving Traffic and Revenue Questions..

Hi all

I'm trying to work something out. Firstly, since we Aussies don't have Thanksgiving, can someone tell me if Friday was also an official public holiday in the US (or perhaps it's a normal workday, but a lot of people take the day off to get an extended weekend)?

Also, please take a moment to describe your observations of your traffic and revenue for Thanksgiving (Thursday), Friday and a 'normal' day. What parking or ad company do you use?

My traffic and revenue were down about 10% on Thursday, but down about 40% on Friday, which seems odd. I use SmartName. My name is Earl.

on thurday revenue for one domain went down by almost 50% and this was my highest revenue earning domain, getting 99% american traffic

Yeah same here... My traffic took a dive over the last 2 days... almost a tenth of what it normally is.. Good news is today it rebounded again!

Thanksgiving thursday is holiday, friday is not but most people take off.

Website with Google adsense rev down 30%

Website with Yahoo pub ads rev down 20%

Parking down bet 15-30% using parked, trafficclub, namedrive.

This is normal based on my years of experience as domaineer.

Traffic and revenue down about 20% for Thursday and friday during thanksgiving -- which is normally looked at as a two day holiday in U.S. but not with everyone.

Seems to be picking up - and remember, lots of people doing online shopping for the after Thankgiving sales.

Thanksgiving is by almost all accounts a 4 day weekend in the states, meaning that most people are off Thursday and Friday. I don't know anyone who goes back to work on Friday unless they are in Retail, Dining, Hotels, Theaters, Banks, etc. Banks open on Friday only because they cannot, by law, be closed for 4 consecutive days. All schools are out for both days. Most govt as well I believe. Heavy travel, lots of shopping on Friday. Big dropoff in U.S. traffic for both days.
