A few years ago I acquired MongoMusic.com - once owned by Microsoft who "swallowed" the startup and then ended its service.

Today I noticed that traffic had exploded. It seems that this article in today's New York Times links directly to my domain :D

The article talks about Microsoft's attempt to acquire Yahoo and previous such practices and how they ended. I wonder if the editor of the NYT bothered to check the link LOL

Doubt it, music traffic is crap.

I find it interesting that NYT would link to a parked page. Surely they would have known?

I don't really see a huge amount of traffic on it...it shows like under 130 total hits...wtfunk

"download music" & "online music" and similiar terms used to pay well at parked.com..Sedo I'm sure is a few pennies

Actually Sedo pays up to almost $0.50 per click these days, as long as you're smart enough to forge a nice keyword :D

Stats are off. I got more than 200 hits just today. Parked pays 3 to 4 cents for these keywords, unfortunately.

wow man, nearly fell off my chair. but then you have to get the balance right between good paying clicks and ctr.

I'm not about to make a fortune either way :) The whole point is how an article on something from the past can impact a domain's traffic. I was aware of the domain and the business (they were sold to MSFT for $6 million in 2000) but otherwise traffic was low.
