Have you ever had what you think is a really awful domain, which someone else made a very high offer on and then bought from you? Please post here, I cant wait to see these... :charming:

It's nice to dream once in a while :-)

Lots of people here have told me stories of crap names sold for 5 figures.

StepInside.com is the best I have heard so far :)

Myself, only about $1k for a long crappy .org

Yes, I have sold one domain which I would not renew it any longer and someone jumped to buy it with mid $xxx.
However, I won't tell it out that I don't want to HURT the buyer's feeling to make him/her think he/she is laughed at by the seller.
I believe this domain must be something to the buyer :)

it's an IDN name that Verisign came out with in order to make itself a fortune.

yart.net 3,000 $

Chianti.us

$3,000

When new.net first came out I sold a .xxx name for about $200. I think it may have been top10.xxx (or top50 or something similar). Unfortunately, that one New.net sale didn't make up for the 20 or so I registered that I let drop.

Back in 2000 i sold hipe.de a typo for hype.de for 3000,- german marks,
the company never used this name

:-O

electricave.com for $2K back in 1999. The buying company then let it expire about 2 years later.

Sold a (common) trademarked domain to the TM owner for $1750. Would have given it to them if they'd asked nicely. Just checked the whois and apparently they let it drop and a fellow speculator now has it.

I sold a domain based on a videogame. The name was trademarked. They offered me $1000, I sold to them about a month later for $7500 (Plus free "future" games and some autographed games). :)

The name itself isn't all that great. It couldn't really be used for anything other than something about that game.
