Are you sure those names were taken at Namewinner? All of the names I have gotten at NW have been registered at Dotster. I do know that I did not pick up a single NW on 8/5 and I was high bidder (sometimes with no competition because the names were only soso) on at least a dozen. I and others using manual methods beat NW for several names. I sent an email to NW and they said that actually they picked up quite a few names, but it looks like they fell short on 8/5. I have had much better success with them in the past.

Although I can scrounge a few decent names using NW, Snap, manual methods, etc., I have really come to the conclusion that WLS would be best for most of us. Perhaps there are a few pros around who are so good that they can pick up some good names, but basically WLS would be a much fairer system. I know that others disagree, but too many of the best names go to Ult & Buy and a few others. I have had Snaps and NW go head to head with them in the past, and for the most part, the big boys win.
