Thoughts on Appraising Pure GEO City .com's ... I'm asking you guys.

Hello,

Any domainers in this forum with experience buying and selling pure GEO city .com's? I'm curious what thumbrules you guys would use to estimate what one should be worth to an end user or a reseller. Let's assume that it's a major industrialized country with a healthy economy and a widespread language--and not an IDN. English, for example. The United States, for the sake of argument. Or something one step down in terms of demand, language- and country-wise.

What do you guys say?

Any GEO-savvy domainers out there with some thoughts about valuation?

Impossible to say. Every city will be different and have different value depending on many things including the enduser and their resources.

I have heard valuations between .10 cents per person up to a few dollars per person depending on the city - but all that really is non-sense.

I know of a city (2m - 2.5m) .com which was bought for $40,000 by a domainer who immediately started letting people know it was worth $400,000 and started developing it out to a nice site which he has worked very hard at. The last time I saw value being mentioned it was $650,000, but I haven't seen it being touted around for sometime so I guess the revenues it is generating make it worth keeping.

if you plan on deving the domain, then one with "type-in traffic" is more valuable than one with "none".

if you plan on reselling the domain, then the same applies as above.


i would ascertain that first, before going into specifics of region and population
