Hi guys,
I wish to register a domain name. Before doing that, do i need to check up with the Patent office of different countries individually to make sure that i am not registering a TM/Copyrighted name.

Or just a check on the US Patent and Trademark website is enough,

Thanks.

There are more than 200 countries, so checking with all of them seems almost impossible.

If it is a domain name that you want to use, or if you think that someone might want to buy it from you later, or if you think that people would be typing in that domain name into their address bar to see if anything is there, then you should register the name.

Nice question sawan,

I also would like to know!

Google's a good place to start. But you're gonna have to check deeper if you
really wanna cover your bases.

I just found this company:

search-trademarks.com

Nice site March2005.

and another one:

nameprotect.com/traderesearch.html

hey why bother...............do a search with a dot com for the word or each word in your domain individually...whatever pops up check that....

thats how i do it.........opinions differ

Thank you everyone.

I hadnt been here on this thread for quite a while.

Gonna look at these sites mentioned here and see how comprehensive search it gives.
