ICANN has published Verisign’s most recent official breakdown of domain transactions by registrar. The data are from November.
Starting with this month’s .com registrar post, I’m going to show the registrar’s numbers from the previous month as well if they were on the chart during the previous month.
There’s some seasonality in domain names, but you might also observe some interesting fluctuations.
In November, these were the top 10 registrars in terms of new .com registrations:
1. GoDaddy.com* 897,003 (942,007 in October)
2. Tucows** 187,418 (197,433)
3. Endurance+ 169,207 (170,597)
4. HiChina Zhicheng Technology Ltd. 163,557 (113,515)
5. NameCheap Inc. 152,154 (132,524)
6. Web.com++ 96,305 (100,930)
7. Xin Net Technology Corporation 83,992 (65,746)
8. Google Inc. 77,297 (78,340)
9. 1&1 Internet 54,521 (55,423)
10. GMO Internet, Inc. dba Onamae.com 51,056 (52,154)
Here’s the current leaderboard of the top registrars in terms of total .com registrations as of the end of October 2017:
1. GoDaddy* 46,542,942 (46,325,700 in October)
2. Tucows** 15,720,758 (15,721,852)
3. Endurance+ 8,076,223 (8,138,111)
4. Web.com++ 6,666,497 (6,647,865)
5. HiChina 5,290,049 (5,198,100)
