A friend has a domain that expired about a month ago at DomainBank.net

It's $35 to renew - or I can transfer the domain to enom, and that is my prefered option. Is this advisable - I need to know because I've never transfer a domain after it's expirey date.

If the name is valuable or desirable by other domain players, then you should renew at DomainBank. Better register quickly as most companies only give 40-45 grace days after the expiration date.

If not, just let it expire and then register with enom. (and hope that no one beats you to it)

If it was mine, I would let it go. That is just my opinion.

Good luck!

You can't transfer right before it expires. so you have to renew (or at least that's what I've experienced)...

However, I would let this expire.

I've transferred after expiration from Register.com to Dotster.com, but there could be a problem depending upon DomainBank rules.

The safest way is to renew, then transfer.

Second choice would be attempt the transfer, but watch closely.

Last choice, let it drop then try to get it first. If it's a good name, that's risky.

If you want to keep it and you think it has potential, you will want to renew the name and then transfer it.

When a name is expired, the registrar has the right to block a transfer request. Most of them will do this.

However, I have successfully done outbound transfers FROM bulkregister.com after expiration.

But you don't know what it is.

LOL My bad, I thought it was DomainBank.net. After reading the post carefully, I see that it was registered there.

Let me try to answer this again. Judging from the elapsed time, your domain is about to fall out from your care any day soon. Trying to transfer the domain over to Enom at this point would be very risky and it could take a few days. During that period your domain could be lost.

Conlusion: If you really care for the domain and you think it is worth more than the $35 - renew it!!

P.S. Sorry for the first answer!! ;)

I just put in for an enom transfer, the site is still up (comeing soon). So I thought it worth the risk, especialy since it's not a likely domain to be snaped up. I'll tell you how it goes.

IMHO .. if it's a nice domain .. renew it! :)

If you think you won't be able to factor-in $35 into
your selling price for the domain, .. well .. take
the chance.

It doesn't make sense to renew if the domain ony
have $40 in value :D
