What's the census on registering typo domains? Especially one word typo domains?

I noticed when I write in a one work keyword into yahoo or google it always asks me, "did you mean xxxxxxxxx" instead of the word I wrote.

Umm, I think there is no such census, david.

My small tiny advice in registering typo domains is... DON'T.

If you're interested with typo domains, but the ones with huge traffic. Otherwise, over and out.

Typos of 1 word generics are good but other than that don't even bother.

That's a good way to sum it up. Computar, Compiter, etc.. are good typos for "computer" but I wouldn't go with anything that is a company name - extremely risky and some companies go after people with both barrels.
