also does it matter what ppc site i have my domains on or will i get the same amount of clicks and money no matter where it is

well, thats a very big can of worms and we are all on the same quest, but you are at the right place my friend...to start with you can watch TV during prime hours and look for new products, commercials, slogans and companies and try to register intelligent corresponding domains accordingly that may very well get traffic..in example there is a new shoe commercial and they keep flashing goto SuperStarShoe.com and you go check and SuperStarShoes.com is available then obviously an unknown quantity of people will definitely be typing it in with the "s" on it instead of the singular form, also domains or names that sound one way but are spelled another like that new suduko game or whatever it is (search forum for more info) obviously domains like; saduko, siduko, soduko, saduka, etc will get type-ins from people sounding it out and thus trying to visit it online...this is just the tip of the iceberg to get your thought process stimulated, other domains you can register are typos of known sites with alot of traffic...I like to pick the biggest and best domain I can from an ultra popular site and type it in really fast or while not paying attention a bunch of times in an email and see what I come up with...I get a few of these a week and they almost always get some kind of traffic, even if it's light..you have to remember that even if a typo gets only 3 hits a day on average thats still 120 people a month from that one domain or 1440+ per year give or take...just ten of these domains equals like 15,000+ per year so as you can see it's just a numbers game...and hand registering 10 domains at godaddy for $7.20 each works out to cost me $72...big whoop...these noted above are just the tip of the iceberg again but might be able to help you get on your way to some good PPC revenue, keep in mind that by owning typos or potentially trademark infringing domains that you might be contacted by the rights holder and asked to give them the domain or cease using it and potentially even a lawsuit to recover damages if your name is that good and they feel you have detracted from their earnings and business...but most times you will never have a problem if you do the right thing, you can always buy traffic domains too with "overture with extension" rating as found in the overture.com keyword selector tool which can help you figure out whats popular and whats not as far as searches and type-ins go...just keep your eye's open and learn a little bit more before you go wasting any money...also if you are going to register domains keep in mind for traffic .com's are pretty much the safest bet overall. Let me know if I can be of any more help! :ok:

Rock on dude..

Nice post Mocus, cheers dude...

Yea the lion gave you some great tips.
The shorter way is to buy a list.
I have a list of at least 20 unregistered domains with huge potencial of traffic. (Typos , keywords , related domains)

Wouldn't the list owner have taken all the good names? :cheeky:

Great post Mocus! That's the spirit. I'll give you an example of what Mocus is talking about. Last night I read an article on Yahoo that said that a "Nun Bun" was stolen from a restaurant in Tennesee. It said that this Nun Bun got a lot of publicity in the 90's...so I registered it. Hopefully there will be a Nationwide Manhunt (hahah). Earlier today NunBun.com already had 32 hits for me. Be careful though. I got into the business by buying a bunch of Watergate related names when the Deep Throat story broke last May (9 out of 10 I wouldn't register again). It was the greatest mistake I ever made! You will learn as you go. You will likely over-register some useless names at first but you will also get better each day. Good luck.

thanks again by the way what happend to you that was bad about watergate names please explain if you can thanks

Nothing bad happened. I even got a few good Watergate names like Watergate.biz, WatergateBooks.com,WatergateHistory.com, etc. I even picked up CarlBernstein.com and WoodwardandBernstein.com. However, I also picked up names like DeepthroatWashingtonPost.com, MarkFeltDeepthroatWashingtonPost.com and about 70 other variations that will go down as my worst purchases ever (I avoided hyphens though..hehe). I ended up getting rid of most by throwing them into package deals....I just couldn't stand to look at them anymore. Of course, I kept the good ones like any sharp domainer would. Watch the news...I picked up a Home-Run watching the Colts Chargers game two weeks ago. CBS kept plugging a new show called Courting Alex during the game....somehow I got it. Some goof already offered me $100. He's still waiting for his reply.

Mocus pretty much hit the nail on the head. Remember this though....domains are an investment....with every investment comes risk. You can do lots of research to minimize your risk, but chances are, you will buy some stinkers. Imagine this....you buy 15 names......10 of them end up being duds and never make the first dime in traffic....you have only spent $108 total. BUT....now imagine that the other 5 make $50/each per month....now you are talking $250 X 12 months...= $3,000 a year...minus $108 = $2892. Not a bad return off of a $108 investment. In fact...we are talking almost a 2,700% return. Good luck making that in the stock market!

You can also look for expiring names with OVT w/extension. This can be very pricey though. I do what Mocus does...and I find websites and then type them in really fast and see what mistakes I make. If I am doing that typo...chances are someone else is as well.

Recently, I have been looking for new sites that have only been out a few months but are moving up the charts quickly. I have been trying this technic for a few weeks....we'll see what happens in the next few months. ;)

Best of luck...and if I can help, I will. Feel free to PM me. I am currently workjing on a website that will teach beginners how to do all of this stuff. My plan is to help keep people from wasting as much money as some of us have. hehehe. You will learn alot on DNForum.

Take care

I try to find niches. Just from a thread I saw a few weeks ago in this forum, I went and registered 6 domains. 3 of them have paid for the 6 domains. I registered 9 more today.

No, I'm not going to tell you what I got. You should have been paying better attention. ;-)

This is a niche in which I think I can slowly get more and more names. Something to keep in mind though, if I sell any of the low performing names publicly, I'm potentially giving away the niche if I share traffic stats. So it might be more profitable for me in the long run to let them drop or sell them in private.

I have been registering myspace typos by hand that are getting traffic as well as straight related type-ins using the overture tool as a guide...

Also I just hand registered like every variation of a well known motorcycle brand for finance/credit, etc I could find...already getting traffic in 2 days..for motorcycle loans...good paying clicks..

remember finance and loan related domains are always gonna pay alot higher than say typos of a kids cartoon/games site...although kids will click on anything you put there basically...at least at a 2-3% rate..this can add up every day over 365 days a year!

Look for sites, companies, and industries that are'nt going anywhere soon..remember it's better to have typos of a long term brand/company than the latest tv show that will be out for 6 months and then gone..along with it's typo traffic...you have to target causes that can make you money and can be profitable...I have a simple auto loan typo that gets a steady 3 - 4 hits a day everyday and always at least a 50%+ CTR, the clicks pay like $2+each so that one ultra low traffic typo domain makes at least $75 - $100/mo on average and I could sell it for like $2000 probably quite easily...since it's a long termer, and I registered it along with many others for like $8..lol

Chris

wow thats sick now thats what i want to do is get some good tyops lol get it tyops i had to do it well thanks guys and im starting to think like you now and will register some domains as soon as i get some money from the ones i bought right off that i havnt been able to sell :(

Really good advice Mocus. If you get the right typos you will get lots of traffic. But you have to be fast. There are many of us out there searching everyday for new typos...

good luck to all of you.
