I am assuming there is less popularity for .US domains. Personally, I don't see the purpose of them besides any of the state names, capitals, etc.

America we are customed to the .COM

They are not like the .EU where Europeans will be typing in their site .EU in the future before the .COM. In the US we assume .COM Have you ever typed Google.us before Google.com ? I doubt it.

IMHO, Europeans will be using their own ccTLD instead of .eu, making it even more worthless than any other TLD. It isn't a gTLD nor a ccTLD.. people identify less with their continent than anything else.

How many times have I ever said I was a North American instead of an American? 0.

Europeans... how many of you identify yourself as european rather than your own country of origin?

Alternatively, .com (argued above to be the "US" ccTLD) is a very crowded TLD and I think Americans will be turning to .us faster than europeans will be turning to .eu.

But, then again, what the hell do I know? I'm just wildly speculating... but I feel the .us extension deserves a spot on the "non-other" list.

There is a forum for .us (usforum.us) that's been around for a long time but I do not recommend it since it seems so inactive vs dnf. In fact, at one time it closed (I assume due to inactivity) and has since repopened. A problem with a forum targeted toward a new ext is that is it's too narrow based to get many members and posts.

That forum is more where a lot of the main traders and insiders hang out. I don't know if they really want a ton of people who aren't involved with that extension in there anyway. Cozy!
