Those were mistakes. The poster just saw some of the names I sold in a package and thought they might have been in the reserved list from the registry. Not so.

Folks, I understand everyones frustration. I wish I would have paid attention and followed the city / state drops as closely as those few people who did end up getting the best of the best. After I first saw this post though, I was able to register quite a few good city names, for example (Stroudsburg.us, SlipperyRock.us, Ayden.us, ParrisIsland.us, Millersville.us) among others. These are cities with populations of 5,000 people or more and definitely ones worth developing or reselling to real estate and travel companies. Out of the 6,000 city names with populations of 4k or more there are still probably a few hundred left available for registration, although they might not receive many searches or be the shortest, easy-to-pronounce locations.

And if you don't feel like taking the hours to dig through all the city names, compile lists, and search for whats still left then go ahead and bid on my thread "(3) .us Cities For Sale" http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?t=77710, all of which will be donated to the American Red Cross to help out the Tsunami victims.

Best of luck, there are still a few good ones left. This will be a whole new market and I believe the extension of choice for finding anything city / state related in the U.S.

the drop game is real competitive and there is more people joining in every other day trying out this domain phenomenon... some of the bigger players are ruthless.. some are pretty nice, but when it comes down to business.. bottom line is, they will do anything and everything in their interest.. who cares about what you like or dont like... they will get it done one way or another... im not aware of any etiquette.. rules or enforcement... atleast last i checked, lol... you know that saying where.. "nice guys finish last" well its kinda true, we're all looking for those bargains that are pretty rare this days.. and well.. there isn't too many anymore... when things get dry... things get ugly!

Having started this thread, I would like to add a few thoughts. First of all, i am glad that the issue got a good airing out here at DNForum. While I continue to question the way Neustar handled this, I see no evidence that any domainer did anything underhanded. It is surprising that, given the efforts undertaken to initially reserve these domains, that some better way of notifying the public of the pending release was not employed. To Stocdoctor and the couple of others that caught this gravy train, congratulations.
