Hi,

Could anyone comment as in the current value of .biz and .info ?
It would appear as though .biz has a low value but me thinks for the right domain and business, it cannot be better...

I'm willing to bet that given enough time, both .biz and .info will become valuable

What do y'all think?

Thks

For information sites .info is obviously the one, there have been multiple $x,xxx sales although things seem to have dried up of late.

The .biz extension I do not see, for a start their is a .bz extension (Belize) and with the correct marketing that could take a lot of any potential traffic from the .biz suffix.

My contenders for the future are .er (if Eritrea ever gets online that is), .es (Spain - how many English words end in 'es' as plurals), .is (Iceland - many sayings can end in the word 'is'), .it{/B] (Italy - the same reason as 'is'), .se (Sweden - again English words ending in in 'se'), .sh(St. Helena - again English words ending in 'sh), .st (Sao Tome and Principe - again English words ending in 'st' but also abbreviation for State/Street/Site), .th (Thailand - again English words ending in 'th').

Of course this all requires marketing (and liberalization of registration regulations in some cases), but as advertisers wake up to the possibilities these ccTLD's will far out do both .info and .biz as well as other gTLD's. Think of the advertising revenue now being thrown at web advertising and it is easy to see why market manipulators (advertising and marketing agencies) will fall upon this method of advertising to gain market recognition and top share for their clients products.

Haha:smile: ...maybe you could do what the GDI guys did with .ws ....in Eritrea that is..

Hi Kingdom, laugh all you want to, but whilst your laughing I will just keep laughing all the way to the bank thankyou.

By the way .ws was a lousy choice - it means website I mean what advertising consultant thought that up was being paid far too much!

Well, .ws stands for Western Samoa actually... and GDI is actually two guys who went to Western Samoa and convinced the king there to open up the domain internationally and of course they get a share. If you go to their site you'll see them posing with their luxury cars...miilionaires both of them.

Now that was a brilliant marketing idea, wasnt it? And nope, I wasnt laughing at ya....

cheers

Yes, for them, but I am talking about for domainers and website developers and owners.

The idea of selling '.ws' as meaning website has not worked with the public (the final consumer). This is the difference between the ccTLD's and .ws, selling what people 'see' is easy, selling them something relatively meaningless is hard and the bottom will fall out very quickly, example is .ws=website.

Thanks for your inputs, Billbo. Personally, I have high regard for .info because information is one of the top 3 major reasons people go online.

And as for .ws I have yet to register any...

Kingdom, I agree about .info with you, it is the 'sleeper' of the gTLD's and advertising revenue on good sites will one day equal if not exceed that on the same dotcom.

I look for 'sleepers', that I have found to be the most productive and profitable means of domaining without robbing the bank to invest in relatively few high priced dotcoms.

Ok guys, just my personal opinion...

I think if anyone of you owns a lot of .biz and .info...domains... you should put some of them to use as developed websites. A developed website beats out any parking plan anyday...however the reason I'm saying this is ...for example...

I read somewhere that only about 30% of .biz tlds are developed as proper websites as compared to about 80% of .com tld and also high figures for .net tld

The current view is that .biz is a less desirable .tld and one of the reasons is people think its a speculative tld....and not mainstream... so there you go. Most people may not know it exists.

If you want your portfolio of domains to command higher prices... pls do develop them if you can, the more people visit your sites and tell their friends the more acceptable or mainstream the tld will become...If every .biz and .info owner develop 2-3 sites with the tld...just imagine...

And it doesnt take rocket science to understand whats mainstream or well known/established will fetch a higher value...

So you will do yourself a favor ...but if everyone just hold onto their clutch and keep them parked...a less well known tld will not gain market value.

Market value is proportionate to the number of sites developed with the tld...I'm pretty sure...

So go out there and develop some of them...you have everything to gain...and then maybe in a couple of years these tlds will fetch REALLY good prices...and many more people will type in the tld when they do searches.

I think .info and .biz have a good future. They are generally the next best top level domains after com, net, org. Once those three are taken then the info and biz are next best if you want to promote worldwide, and they are usually shown in the results anywhere you reg domains, so they are visible. Or, you can also use your own country tld. I personally don't like the idea of using various cctlds to make up words, like .es, .is, .se. I'd rather own those domains with good words in the language of the country. I mean, what is the market for a chopped up word in an extension most people aren't familiar with? Sure, there's a few exceptions but far from widespread use. If you are regging names like that I would say it's highly speculative.

The value of .info is certainly going to rise in the near future there's no doubt about it, while the value of .biz will rise as the availability of other TLDs for commercial purposes is declining but it may take a few more years.

Can't see many "hacked" names working. I can see some of the larger ccTLDs working down the line, but probably too costly to cover them until they do, and for sure not the hacked vs real name kind. I'd still take .WS over most all of the extensions you listed above. Good luck though Bill. :tape2:

I dont think ICANN is going on the right way. gTLDs go to the rubbish from its non-stop publishing new tlds... .biz, .info, .name together in 2002.
See what happened today? .biz, .name died. Hold on, there is a .mobi following...
maybe in the future .xxx come. Imagine, what if we have 100 gTLDs someday?
