The Well is an important bit of internet history. It is one of the oldest virtual communities, founded in 1985 and still active. Some people consider The Well as the origin of virtual communities. Several big initiatives (like the Electronic Frontier Foundation) have their roots in The Well. Howard Rheingolds defining book "The virtual community" is inspired by The Well.
For those that are scratching their heads wondering about timing.... the Well was a dialup BBS (bulletin board service) first and then became an ISP in the early 90's.
It only takes two people that really want it. This domain could be used for tons of things. Water, Health etc.
.org's have been climbing in price, so I expect to see more like this. Somebody on NP's got a Starting offer for a pretty regular one worder for $12K. Which he accepted and they paid etc...
I think .org is underrated and good names can still be had.
Domainers tend to overlook .org but it's very good for development and there is value for good single keywords.
I knew this one would sell for high $,$$$ at least but I am pleasantly suprised.
I am convinced namejet shill bids....I set a price and don't look back. I have won 1 or 2 auctions with them since they started...with snapnames...I would win 1 or two a day.
