And who puts out 1st page?

Creating websites is not easy if you want to do it right, it takes a lot of practise. But it is certainly not impossible!!

Here is step by step how I do it:
1. Think about the website, what I want with it, functionalities I'd like it to have, who do I target, and how I would like it to look.
2. Then make a design on real paper / scrapbook. Then design it into a graphics program (either Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop).
3. From the graphics program I cut the images and make a plain HTML version page. UltraEdit and DreamWeaver are great. I mostly use UltraEdit/Notepad to keep the codes as clean as possible.
4. If there is any programming to do, then that will be the next step. Now I can work on the content and finetune the code.
5. Testing, until everything (seems to) work. Do not put a website online if it is not working properly. Visitors don't like to see "under construction" or error pages.

Hope this helps,

You can find 1stPage on their website here: http://www.evrsoft.com/

I have used this program for a long time now, but I've had it crash on my a few times...I'm not sure if its a bug or not. Other than that, I like how its easy to use.

always use notepad
ive been using a plain text editor recently though - mostly textpad for its find and replace function

Myself, I've been at this a while and I started with hard coding sites so that's where my preference lies. Although, I have afforded myself the luxury of using Homesite to do the handcoding. It's nice in that it automatically colors the code which is nice for debugging in the instance of Vbscript, CFML, PHP .... whatever.

Personally, the only reason I am so against wysiwyg is that they produce 'heavy' code. By heavy I mean that if you view source on two identical pages, straight code/wysiwyg produced code - the straight coded pages is much smaller.

But, that is just my two cents from a crusty oldtimer set in his ways.

Have to disagree with you here, RMF. The BEAUTY of Notepad is that it's like a plain paper with nothing on - pure and simple.

Homepage is like that. No extra crapola.

I actually use a very powerful text editor named "UltraEdit".

I LOVE it. It will highlight tags / keywords in a lot of different languages, making it easter to open/close loops and blocks.

All the PERL I write is done in UltraEdit too.

www.ultraedit.com if you want a demo copy.
