Say for example someone offered you _____.com - what measurements/tools do you use to calculate its value? (ex. archive.org age or alexa.com rank or name of the domain name).

Also what do you weight each metric?

Just wondering on how you domain'ers think. :)

I know pre-existing traffic is key, but you usually can't get that with 100% certainty unless the owner gives you access to their Google Analytics or something of the sort.

so true

though many domainers do use and misread "metrics" everyday, to register, buy, catch, or backorder domains.

experience is the best teacher

some use the age of domain, number of backlinks, length of domain, what letters make up the domain, what numbers make up the domain, the keywords, advertisements, Big G results, who owns it, who used to own, the extension, if the extension is two letters or three, whether it's parked, been parked or never been parked before, or some old outdated ovt numbers from 2007, etc , etc

once you weed out all the .bs criteria, then it boils down to "gut" feeling, hunches, stuff like that or you already have a buyer in mind and just looking for a fit.

imo...
