Every day, thousands of domain names are registered, some are memorable, some are brandable, and others are catchy.

So, what about you? What was the very first domain you ever registered, and what lessons did you learn along the way?;)

I regg'ed my company name in 2006-ish sitting in my dorm, paid in cash. I didn't have the luxury of credit cards. The COM is now expired, will disclose later ; )

I still have it and use it for behind-the-scenes stuff - just not an active website.
Looks like it's off on some top-secret mission lol.

So did you end up running that community all the way till now? What kind of community was it?

Hope it actually gave your online business a nice boost. ;)

So why’d you let it go? Didn’t it fit your brand vibe anymore?

Yes. I sold it for $1,800 within few months of registration. From there my domaining journey started.

The whole idea of organizing a community was to build a product!

A condom dispensing machine, which accepts used recyclable plastic bottles as currency token. The long term vision was physically installing vending machines across India, that delivers condoms, emergency contraceptives, birth control pills, and sanitary napkins.

More on the journey ↗
