I'm curious about people's stories - how you started in domains (and/or web development, e-commerce etc..), how you grew, and what made you decide that it was time to stop working for someone else and to go about it on your own (brokering, flipping, development, parking revenue, etc..)?
When you went domaining full time, were you nervous? Scared? Did you struggle for a while or were you lucky enough to have a sale that thrust you into financial security?
If you don't domain (etc.) full time, how does it fit into your work schedule? When do you work and domain?
Note: "Domaining" can be replaced with anything that has to do with this forum - web development, legal, design, brokering, consulting, etc..
Well...I've just start in domaining less than 3 years ago.
In that period I was lookin to some entrepreneur idea because I was very broke and after 15 different regular jobs I've decided to stop working for others (because I'm no ***** and I don't want die everyday...If I had to struggle I want take full responsabilities of this).
I was lookin for something related to real estate.
One day I've found a domain name article and I asked myself: "if a website is the home of the internet, a domain is the land?"
There I've seen the big picture.
For 6/7 months I've spent all my days to study the game and I've make many mistakes and spent all my money left in orrendous domains.
In the while is born my daughter so I can't make mistake no more because I have to rise a child.
With some euros in my bank from that moment I've changed strategies until I've make my first x,xxx sale.
At that point I've realized the secret: people searching for products/services on the net and I need to sell them that type of domains.
So I've create a portfolio of revenue domains for live and other names lookin' for companies to buy them.
So let me explain this: I've don't choose to make domaining my full time job because domaining was my last chance to create my own job or I don't eat no more.
My regular day is: wake up at the 9 am, a coffee, a cigarette, some songs in the background and I start to search endusers all day until 5 in the morning.
No loans, no bullshit.
For some while I've quick flip names here and on other forums but now I'm lookin for endusers only.
My plan for the 2009 is to buy only 2/3 xx,xxx - xxx,xxx names and develop them.
Scared? For sure. I'm scared every day but I can't loose.
I also have another income: selling rap beats.
But that's another story
