I have a conundrum. I have a domain that is, and always been, fabulous and part of my business plan execution. This site has over 10 years actually. About 3 years ago a huge entity created a company in the same marketplace but not online and used this exact name in the specific marketplace.

This domain could not be trade marked, as it is a generic. I tried when I got it. Even though my claim to namespace is secure their money and position can do what they want. .

They have been buying up other domains based around the .com I own. They are frequent visitors to my site. I am sure they want this domain.

I want a broker that will sit down with them and get the price in a discreet manner. The domain was valued in the xxx,xxx by Sedo years ago and might fetch x,xxx, xxx with a good broker.

I will not publicly post this domain name. After reading the rules where I can ask for a broker I would need to expose the name and I just do not think that a good idea at all. I will give anyone who is serious, or admins, under confidentiality that name by PM. I just can’t see putting this where search will find it. I am sure discretion will maintain a higher value.

So as a newer poster to these forums I am lost. I figure this forum at least I can get some ideas or help?

Have you tried asking them how much they are willing to pay for the domain?

There is certain emotionality involved with this personally and I prefer a professional buffer. It is a large amount of money (even at the lowest valuations) and deserves representation. That is why I am looking for a broker to do this. I am also very far away.

I may just have to do that if I cannot find a broker. I know whom to call and I guess it would be easy. But I am from the old school where appearance is important and having a representative gives more panache than calling up saying "Hi! Remember me? Don't you think you should be who you want to be? You need your name so put a million in my Paypal."

There is also the fact that the entity is very large. Bigger than Citibank and more powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap legal boundaries without a blink and has the uncanny ability to create money out of air. I admit trepidation and want to approach the tiger with care, as I already know being right does not mean you win, especially playing with tigers.

I appreciate your input and it is on the actionable list.

Since you READ the rules, then why would you try to bypass them and post your request here?

Although, I/we feel your pain, your options within the rules are:

Post the name as required
Upgrade to Exclusive and solicit there.
Seek a broker at Sedo / Moniker or some other reputable person with references.

Thanks
