I don't know much about him other than he owns a ton of .ca domains, but here goes

http://www.tamiltigers.net/tamilcanadian/canada0003.html

He gets an honorable mention on this page as well http://www.masihivandana.com/ there is a photo gallery to go with the site but since i've never seen him I wouldn't be able to identify him.

Apparently he came to Canada as a refugee from Tamil
http://www.irb-cisr.gc.ca/en/about/tribunals/rpd/crdef/crdef08_e.htm

I found a page at one time that I thought was linked to him somehow. It was on a site that was a CIRA certified registrar. It detailed how .ca domain names dropped and since the company was a registrar they could snap up names like crazy. This is only speculation about him, at this time I can't even remember how I found it. This would make sense however since he manages to grab domains before they go public (it was all described, I'll keep searching)

IF this is the same person, he is/was also apparently a doctor

http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Quad/7075/oba.html

More mention of this Dr ES Thevasagayam on this page as well
http://wsmano.tripod.com/six.html

More mention of the doctor here
http://www.helpagesrilanka.org/management.html

Putting the two together we know that the tamil people have come out of Sri Lanka and that this Dr ES Thevasagayam worked in Jaffna which is in northern Sri Lanka. Putting my previous post together with this one with his name being on a list of Sri Lankan refugees means this is probably the same person.

So you have a little background on this person, all of which I found on google. I guess the basic story is "Immigrant moves and becomes successful", although I'd like to know more.

So, why not email him and invite him to come to DNForum?

(I hope you can understood my rantings, it's late and time for bed)

I think a lot of his registrations are suspicious. He always manages to get the domains before they drop. At least that was the case a year or two ago.

I'm not sure if this is the same page, but this does explain how he is able to snap domains before they expire.

http://www.myreg.ca/ca_faq.html#tbr
Registering TBR domains
31 days after their renewal date, domain registrations are canceled and the domains are marked TBR (to be released). This happens shortly after midnight (eastern time). TBR domains become available for "TBR registration" at 2pm eastern two and a half days later. If they are not registered during the 15 minute "TBR registration" period, then they are deleted completely and become available for normal registration.
To register a TBR domain, you must have a CIRA registrant which has already accepted the registrant agreement.

Hmm ... not really. That is the standard procedure for .ca domains to "drop". Nobody should be able to register To Be Released names before they are available at 2PM Eastern time. Registrars with back orders will try to snap them in a chaotic cat fight (actually in queue batches). And for those with no backorders, they will be up for grab even manually late on.

he has the registry connections for .ca and is almost always online .....basically he had no competition for the longest while and got in on a profitable niche which all the canucks ignored.

Perhaps he acquired a portfolio of domains; most of those names have the same creation and update dates.

I know its an old thread but I'm gathering alot of info on all the top .ca grabbers, and he is the biggest one.. Thus far I've found 5 different identities he uses at three different address's. Most of my time the last year is spent on research. He plays a fair game as I've noticed, so no hard feelings. But there are a few out there holding names ransom which they hold no claim to as far as im concerned. It's my opinion that personal names and business names should be offered up to the appropriate owners at cost + small percentage. I offer such pricing for people who inquire about personal names, my only requirement is they prove to me that they are in fact that person.

-=[ I wanted to post a thread on exactly this topic so I hope bringing up this older thread isnt against rules. ]=-

Suspicious? sigh ... those guys are standup and play 100% by the book. Dont make silly accusations or smears without knowing who they are.

I agree with ahmedf on that.. I cant say for the situation but alot of big grabbers pay big for it, and work hard to cover their bases.
If I realy want a name, it can be hrs of work to get it, and pay alot for it too. but in that case i deserve it.

I have a big portfolio of names right now, and after today if im lucky I'll be full. If I'm not in the buying market after this I'll post all my tips and tricks to stir up the pot and bring demand up.. I have a plan
hehe
