I wonder how deleteddomains.com and other services get WHOIS data for all com/net/org domains. Are they doing bulk whois lookups or have some direct access to WHOIS information?

but are you sure it includes all that information or just ns/ns2 servers for each particular zone domain?

The zone file does not have any contact information in it at all.

Here's a typical domain record from the CNO zone files:

MYOSTRICH.COM. 172800 IN NS NS1.MYOSTRICH.NET.
MYOSTRICH.COM. 172800 IN NS NS2.MYOSTRICH.NET.

No contact information - just nameservers...

Sorry, did not look at your question carefully.

deleteddomains.com has whois service?
Those whois service site has all com/net/org domains list?
Can you linke me to one of those please?

If you mean perform whois for each domain you request like betterwhois.com, then that's different question.

yes, but they still know when domains are on hold... it means they hammer WHOIS for that data?

Thats a good question. If they don't get that info from the zone file, what file do they get it from? If they get it from a third party, where does that third party get it from?

However, that data isn't always accurate. Plenty of domains in their "on hold" list don't expire until later this year, or beyond. One name I registered weeks ago still shows up in the list, too, as do others which have been dropped and reregistered.
