Whois problems

I am being hassled by my registrar regarding invalid whois information. I put the name to be used for whois as firstname Internet lastname Administrator. They are asking me to fax over my identification. I do not want my actual name to be used in the whois database for personal reasons. Are there ways around this other than using one of those anonymous name services?

Unfortunately it appears you have to use your real name. Unless you have an
alias which you can prove your alias and you are one and the same, perhaps.

Unless you have your name legally changed to "Internet Administrator", I can see how the registrar wouldn't let you keep that in place. (Back when Network Solutions was a monopoly, they had a category of contact records called "Role Accounts" that could have the name of a department in a company rather than an actual person, but I guess that isn't there any more.)

Just another thought, markk: is your personal name listed as the registrant? If
yes, maybe that's why the registrar isn't allowing "Internet Administrator" for
WHOIS admin or tech.

Directnic because they received a complaint from someone. My personal name is only listed as the billing information which isn`t shown to the public.

They also want me to fax over proof of my mailing address (mailbox) showing that it is an actual address belonging to my company.

Unfortunately you have no choice but to follow what Directnic says. As long
as your domain name is registered with them, you agree to their terms even if
you don't necessarily agree with them.

Mole, you are not correct. "Microsoft" is a legal entity and is listed as the registrant. You can put a role name in the Admin contact information, but the registrant is obligated to identify itself. "Enom Inc." is also a legal entity.

If the name of your corporation is "Domain Administrator" then you simply provide a copy of your corporate charter - just as Microsoft can show its charter, and so can Enom.

Registrants are required to provide a real name of a real entity, and to provide a real address. Alternatively, you can use a proxy registration service.

Another possible solution is transfer the domain name out to another registrar.

After I pointed out Microsoft, now they are telling me

"You can use just a company name
