The web site www.flashgames.com has no staff, spends no money on marketing and despite its name, offers no games. All it offers is a list of links to other game sites. Yet it earns revenue of more than $150,000 a year selling online ads.

It's pathetic - but sadly not surprising - that in 2006 we can still read nonsense like "Sites like flashgames.com used to be considered "cybersquatting," a longstanding Internet tactic where entrepreneurs register domain names either associated with a particular subject or a company and then try to sell the name for a quick profit. These new-generation sites go a little further, reaping ad revenue. Demand Media says it will not buy trademarked domain names."

Isn't there a conflict of interest in that a company now owns and controls Enom which also wants to acquire the very domains its customers own.. seems like it could lead to some problems. Like say if a name accidently expires and becomes owned by them.

I was just wonder how many of the equivalents of these have been booked out in Chinese or Japanese IDN, hard to say but I would hazard less than 0.01%. Basically, this is typical of the dead street that ASCII has driven into. Who would actually shell out to renew most of this stuff let alone develop it?

I was of the understanding that Sedo doesn't allow those kinds of redirections, i.e. it would pump up the stats of the ultimate destination URL, and potentially mislead buyers as to how much traffic a domain gets on its own.
