Great link and post. Super multimedia presentation. But this Orwelian future simply won't happen, if for no other reason than the group that published it illustrates: " People are cognizant of the freaky factor" .. Most of us in this room were the first to use Google; tech savy people. Now everyone else who works regular 9-5 jobs does.

Today, we are all concerned with our privacy and most of us give fake info to services like the one described so we can spot when we get "targeted information" from services like the one described in the video. If we are doing it today, you can bet regular, less tech-savy folks will be trying in the future to thwart the efforts of such enterprises. That type of subversion, caution in posts, blog spinning etc. will work to undermine efforts such as that. It may get worse first but then the inevitable, opposite reaction always takes place. JMO

Also one additional note -- The concerns raised by that presentation are being illustrated with an insignificant percentage of the population blogging. Wait till every truck driver has a blog (if it even happens) and then relate to other companies that screwed with the populace. History has not been kind to companies of groups that try too hard to control the way people think. Thank god for lawyers.
