"you have mail" announcements - linked to DNF site??

I started getting weird and varied "you have mail" type voice announcements when I last logged on to DNF about 30 minutes ago. Completely unrelated to receiving new e-mails.

They stopped coming when I left the site. I've come back and I'm not getting the messages now.

Has anyone else had this?

That was one of the first things I did.

But there were no new messages.

If DNF implemented something like that, I'm sure it would say something like "You have new Private Messages (at DNForum)" and not "mail".

I'm sure we would be warned too.

It sounded more like I had caught a virus, than a serious messaging system.

The reason I said that, is because I get the same thing.. every time, and every time I clear out my inbox, it stops.

Thanks NETGEEK. The sound on PM wasn't disabled. (I've disabled it now).

I didn't enable it, so it must have been enabled by someone else or automatically.

The strange thing was I had no new messages.

It looks like amongst my numerous e-mails, one of the old ones hadn't been read, but no way of telling which one.

I nearly had a heart attack the first time I heard it months ago. I have adapted by shutting off my sound volume completely when I visit DNF.

I thought when Greg sold DNF, he had to take all of the ghost with him.

I guess they are still walking the halls of the forum, looking for the light.

I almost fall from my seat when I first got a PM at DNF. I had no idea about that sound. lol
